The Appleton Police Department is one of the most innovative and progressive law enforcement agencies in the nation. We offer a number of programs that provide the citizens of Appleton an opportunity to learn more about the Department and to interact directly with police officers in positive situations. We also offer a number of career options for police officers, which include lateral positions within the department and voluntary special assignments.
We currently work under a District Team Policing model and officers are assigned to one of three patrol districts. The Appleton Police Department employs the finest, expects their best, and serves our community in the pursuit of the highest quality of life. We promote leadership throughout, and deliver excellence in innovative policing at the neighborhood level.

The Community Foundation/APD K9 Unit
K9’s for a Safer Community was found by a group of citizens with the purpose of fundraising to purchase a new K9 for the Appleton Police Department’s K9 Unit. The group now supports the ongoing training and development of the K9 unit.
The community’s support has been an important part of our Unit’s success. It is with this generous support that our program succeeds and moves forward. This past year our deployments included a number of types of incidents, including: search warrants, tracking suspects, evidence recovery, building searches and perimeters. Our unit also continues to assist surrounding agencies as needed.
We Need You to Partner with us! Adding a valuable Police K9 Unit to the Appleton Police Department will not be possible or successful without private funding from our citizens and business leaders. It is our goal to continue this valuable program for our community for years to come.

City of Appleton Fire Department
The Appleton Fire Department, located in Appleton, Wisconsin, has a staff of 96 men and women providing service from six fire stations strategically located throughout the City of Appleton.
In addition to fire suppression, the department provides a full range of fire prevention, life safety education, emergency medical first responder and rescue response services. Responding to emergencies consumes a large portion of our time. On average, the fire department responds to 4,000 calls yearly. When not responding to emergencies, staff spends time training and conducting inspections. Inspections are completed for commercial and multi-family facilities to ensure compliance with the national and local fire and life safety codes.
When not responding to emergencies, training or conducting inspections, crews conduct fire station tours, participate in community special events, and give fire and life safety presentations
The Appleton Fire Department conducts nearly 6,000 inspections annually. These include routine fire inspections, occupancy inspections and license/permit inspections for open burning, pyrotechnics, flammable/combustible storage, tent/membrane structures and special events. Routine inspections are also completed by operations line firefighters.
We offer several programs to the Appleton community:
Fire Station Tours and school visits
Job Shadow/Ride Along program
Juvenile Firesetter program (Firewise)
Citizen’s Public Safety Academy
And many others!
