OSHKOSH, Wis., Dec. 22, 2015 –
A Fox Valley family will have gifts to put under their Christmas tree thanks to support from the community. The Fry family won $300 in Oshkosh Community Credit Union‘s Nominate a Family giveaway. The Facebook contest asked people to nominate families struggling financially. Friends, family and members voted on the stories to choose a winner.
Oshkosh Community Credit Union launched the giveaway Nov. 6. By the contest’s end Dec. 15, the Fry family received the most votes of the 87 entries. They will receive Oshkosh Community Credit Union’s $300 donation for Christmas gifts.
Joshua and Stormie Fry returned to Wisconsin in September 2015 after a three-year military tour in Japan. The couple became new parents five weeks later with the birth of their son. Stormie Fry said Oshkosh Community Credit Union’s gift will allow her to buy Christmas presents for their baby without having to worry about getting behind on bills.
“At OCCU, we take great pride in supporting our neighbors,” said Diane Schroeder, Oshkosh Community Credit Union president. “We felt this was a meaningful way to serve our community and make a difference in the lives of a deserving family this holiday season.”
Members at the credit union take up other charitable causes throughout the year. The credit union partners with the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the Salvation Army year-round, along with the Toys for Tots Foundation and the Stock the Shelves food drive during the holiday season. Anyone can donate to these causes at the downtown Oshkosh office, located at 250 Pearl Ave.
