Tonight at the Stansbury Theatre at 8:00 pm, the Lawrence University Jazz Ensemble pays tribute to “Latin Jazz Big Band” — mambo, cha-cha-cha, salsa, rumba and bata drums — as it closes its 2012-13 schedule. The 10-piece program includes Mario Bauza’s “Frenzy,” three compositions and arrangements by Michael Phillip Mossman including “57th St. Mambo,” commissioned by the Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra, Luis Perdomo’s “Golpe De Cumaco” as recorded by the Afro Bop Alliance. Free and open to the public.
